As part of my Bob McAdoo tribute, here's another clip from the HORSE series that the NBA on CBS did during the 1977-78 season. It features the then-New York Knicks C McAdoo versus New Orleans Jazz guard "Pistol" Pete Maravich. Though Maravich wins the competition, it's still a good throwback clip. Too bad this year's HORSE (er, GEICO) competition didn't have this one's star power! Enjoy!

Today, we'll do something different for the tribute clip for Pete Maravich. Instead of an actual game clip, here is a HORSE cometition (done by CBS during the 1977-78 season) where Maravich takes on San Antonio Spurs SG George Gervin. Maravich beats Gervin here to advance to the semifinals of this competition. We even get a brief glimpse of Maravich's wife, Jackie, near the end of this clip. A unique clip for a unique player, and a fitting tribute for a guy who was a wizard with the ball. Enjoy!

How about that?! We have a clip that has autonomy! Anyhow, this clip comes from game 7 of the 1978 NBA Finals between the Washington Bullets and the Seattle Supersonics. After being swept in each of their first two Finals appearances, the Bullets finally broke through, winning this game 7 in Seattle 105-99 for their first and only NBA title. Note the stiffness of commentator John Havlicek, who shows why he only lasted one year on CBS. A word of note; the audio is not very high, so you may need to turn up the volume to hear this correctly.
